Terms of sale

Terms of sale for tickets bought on ticketry.ca

Last updated October 1, 2026. By placing an order you agree to these terms. The refund and cancellation sections are the ones people need later — they are short.

1. Who you are buying from

Tickets on ticketry.ca are sold by IBQS Inc. operating as Ticketry, a federally incorporated Canadian company at 2972 Danforth Avenue, East York, Ontario M4C 1M6 ("Ticketry", "we", "us"), on behalf of the event's organizer. Ticketry takes your payment, issues your ticket and handles refunds. The organizer stages the event and sets its rules, including its refund terms, any age limit and the conditions of entry. Where an event page names the organizer, that organizer is responsible for the event itself.

These terms, together with our Refund Policy, Cancellation & Changes Policy and Privacy Policy, are the agreement between you and Ticketry for every order placed on ticketry.ca. By placing an order you accept them.

2. Prices, fees and taxes

The price you see before you pay is the price you pay. It includes the ticket price, any add-ons, any processing fee and the applicable tax. Nothing is added after you confirm.

  • Prices are in Canadian dollars.
  • Tax is charged at the rate for the province the event takes place in — HST in Ontario — and is shown as its own line, with the rate.
  • A processing fee applies to card payments, to recover what card processing costs us. It is a percentage of the order plus a fixed amount per order, and it is shown as its own line, against the card option only, before you confirm. Tax applies to the fee because it forms part of the price of the ticket.
  • Paying by Interac e-Transfer or by cash at the door, where the event offers them, carries no processing fee. Where more than one method is offered, checkout shows the total for each so you can compare.
  • A promo code, where accepted, is applied before tax and the discount is shown on the order.

3. Placing an order

When you select tickets for an event with limited capacity, we hold them for 10 minutes while you complete checkout. If payment is not completed in that time the hold is released and the tickets return to sale; simply start again. For events with no cap on attendance there is nothing to hold.

Your order is complete when we confirm it by email. A card order is confirmed when Stripe confirms the charge. An e-Transfer order is confirmed when your transfer has arrived and been matched to it (section 5). A cash order is confirmed at the door when you pay.

We may refuse or cancel an order where we reasonably believe it was placed by automated software, is fraudulent, or breaches these terms. Any payment taken on an order we cancel for those reasons is refunded, except as set out in section 10.

4. Paying by card

Card payments are processed by Stripe. The card form is served by Stripe inside our page; your card number, expiry date and security code go directly to Stripe and are never received or stored by Ticketry. We receive confirmation of the payment, the card brand and the last four digits, which appear on your receipt. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy govern the card form.

5. Paying by e-Transfer or cash

Some events accept Interac e-Transfer in advance or cash at the door. Checkout shows which methods an event accepts.

  • e-Transfer. Your order is created unpaid. We email you the amount, the address to send it to and your order reference; include the reference in the transfer message so we can match it. No ticket is issued until your transfer arrives and is matched to your order. We send reminders while payment is outstanding, and an order with no payment after 14 days is closed with nothing owed.
  • Send exactly the amount shown. A short payment is held until it is topped up; we do not issue tickets against a partial payment. An overpayment is returned.
  • Cash at the door. Pay at the box office when you arrive. Your ticket is issued and you are admitted at that moment. Cash sales are subject to the same tax as any other sale.

6. Your tickets

Your tickets are emailed to the address on the order the moment it is confirmed, with a link to view and download them. Each ticket carries a unique code that admits one person, once. Show it on a phone or print it; a screenshot of the code works.

From your ticket link you can name the attendee on each ticket, correct a name, download a PDF, add the event to your calendar and transfer a ticket to another person at no charge. A transfer retires the old code and issues a new one to the new holder, so only one of you can use it. A ticket that has already been scanned at the door cannot be transferred.

Keep your ticket link private. Anyone who has it can view, download or transfer the tickets on that order. The link works for 180 days; after that, contact us and we will send a fresh one.

7. Entry and conduct

The organizer sets the conditions of entry for their event: age restrictions, identification, bag checks, prohibited items and expected conduct. These are stated on the event page where they apply.

Entry may be refused, or a person removed from the event, for breach of those conditions, for behaviour that is unsafe, unlawful or abusive, or where a ticket has already been used to admit someone. No refund is due in those cases. Arrive with your ticket ready; a code that has already been scanned will not admit a second person.

8. Refunds

Our Refund Policy sets out when a refund is due and how it is paid. Each event page shows the organizer's own refund terms before you buy, and they apply alongside it. Refund requests go to [email protected] with your order reference.

9. Changes and cancellation

If the organizer cancels the event, or changes its date, time or venue, our Cancellation & Changes Policy applies and we will email every ticket holder. In short: a cancelled event is refunded in full; a moved event keeps your ticket valid, with a refund available if you cannot attend the new date.

10. Resale and automated purchasing

Tickets are sold for personal use. Ticketry does not operate a resale marketplace. You may give or transfer a ticket to another person at no charge through your ticket link.

Consistent with Ontario's Ticket Sales Act, 2017, we may cancel without refund any ticket that we reasonably believe was bought using automated purchasing software, or is being offered for resale above the price paid. Our checkout is rate-limited to deter automated buying.

11. Our responsibility

Ticketry is responsible to you for the sale and delivery of your ticket and for refunds under these terms. The organizer is responsible for the event, its content, the venue and the conduct of the event.

To the extent the law allows, neither Ticketry nor the organizer is liable for travel, accommodation, parking or other costs you incur in connection with an event, or for a cancellation or change caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control — weather, a public-health order, closure of the venue, a strike. In every such case you remain entitled to the refunds described in our Refund and Cancellation policies.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or any other consumer-protection law that applies to you.

12. Your information

How we collect, use and protect your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. The organizer of an event you buy a ticket for receives the attendee details for that event in order to run it.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. If something goes wrong, write to us first — most problems are resolved by email within a business day. Where we cannot resolve a dispute, the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, without limiting any right you have under the consumer law of your own province to bring a claim there.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force for your order is the one published when you placed it. Changes are posted here with a new "last updated" date.
